I’d love to know your experience.
I’m a 20 something with a degenerative joint disease in my hips (yikes!) which means at my diagnosis (early 20s), I could only manage to walk about a kilometre, with severe pain collapsing hips occasionally. All this due to Tumour ridden cartilage, and very thin/no cartilage in some areas.
Funnily enough, I’ve had a mindset shift lately and have been walking shorter distances, but much more often, + leg strengthening exercises and Pilates, and now I can walk about 5kms in one trip.
In my experience, I don’t know if I’ve somehow healed some cartilage, but something had changed
- stanford_labrat 2y agoi'm a 20 something former semi-pro athlete with grade 4 osteoarthritis in my knee. pain was massively bad but over the past 2 years has improved significantly. here's what i did: 1) mindfully progressively overload the leg muscles to build strength 2) quit playing rugby (so stop playing hard contacts sports with a lot of abrupt, sudden movements) 3) do my best to lose weight. our situations are different but i wish you luck.
- purple-leafy 2y agoOn the same path it seems - I’ve stopped all running, football etc and mostly just cycle now. Cycling makes the joint feel “lubricated” lol Must be something about increasing the blood flow to the joint. Losing weight in progress Best of luck in your situation, we can do this!
