S.F. police are using drones to arrest bipping suspects, officials say
- mrcode007 2y agoPretty smart tactics
- Centrino 2y agoBipping? Had to google that. "Bipping is a slang term for a type of car break-in in San Francisco that involves breaking into unattended cars with little noise. The term may have originated from the sound of breaking porcelain sparkplug pieces thrown at car windows, but today thieves more often use a rescue car escape tool called a resqme device."
- grugagag 2y agoThanks, I didn’t know know either and the article is paywalled
- m463 2y agoI think using a term like that must be a specific planned clickbait technique.
- infotainment 2y agoIt's pretty commonly used in the Bay Area, so I don't think so. Just a bit of local flavor.
- jlund-molfese 2y agoI had no idea what bipping meant either, and wanted to remove it from the title (I don’t think it adds any context). Ended up keeping it just in case someone thought that would be editorializing though.
- Ekaros 2y agoDo these people get prosecuted and imprisoned after they are arrested?
