Cookie banners show everything that's wrong with the EU
- Tomte 2y agoMostly they show how tech bros willfully "misunderstand" (don‘t tell me nobody ever explained it to them) EU‘s stance on cookies. I hadn‘t figured DHH to be an adtech apologist, but here we are.
- troupo 2y agoThe industry's concerted effort to defeat GDPR and related regulations is extremely effective. It really is "We have all the right to your personal data, everywhere, and forever. We will fight anything that challenges this assumption. We will make the web unusable and blame everyone else for it". Literally nothing prevents the industry from coming up with a common cross-browser way of asking for user consent without dark patterns. And yet the industry's response is "We value your privacy. We're building a profile on you. We sell your data to 1500 partners" [1]. How is regulation to blame?
