That sounds like the stupid stuff that went on with the hotel I was staying at when the CrowdStrike stuff happened and they couldn't take any credit card payments.
Someone at the hotel should have gone to Target (or any handful of stores) and bought some Square readers and devices to use them with. They were hemorrhaging money because they went cash only during the middle of a very large international convention.
This restaurant should have had generators in place by now. I get that the local stock might have been bought out quickly, but they certainly could have had some delivered from out of state, or driven a long way to pick some up. $30k/week in losses more than dictates that you do something about it.
Run a generator, run some power cords around, solve the problem. Ask forgiveness later.
