Hamas and Hezbollah are terrorist groups that target civilians. Israel target terrorists, and better Israeli intelligence helps it kill terrorists with fewer civilian casualties. It recently killed Hamas leader Haniyeh in Iran. I think the only other casualty was Haniyeh's bodyguard.
- zhengiszen 2y agoHamas and Hezbollah exist in reaction to Israel politics, actions and crimes operated during the last decades. Context is key. Words like terrorists could change like we saw with PLO or the ANC in South Africa. What doesn't change is the inalienable rights of a people to self determination.
- ggm 2y agoNot to disagree with the refinement of targeting and the key point of your message the political consequences of this hit will take far longer to come out and may well include a sum over bodycount which is far far higher on both sides. An ability to conduct surgical strikes doesn't necessarily translate to killing fewer civilians overall: It just alters when, and why. The key point of interest is the use of commodity D.C. based cloud services to manage the information. I think we've got well beyond the slowly boiled frog quality in what the cloud is being used for "for your convenience" I wonder if there is a valid warrant which could be served by any economy on that data? I wonder what levels of encryption at rest they have over it, how much they can limit introspection of the running components.
