Show HN: I made an all-in-one tracker to fix my OCD: Ryot
One of my quirks of having OCD is that I tend to quantify my life extensively. Which movies did I watch in the last 6 months? How much weight did I lift in that workout? Has my blood sugar gone up or down after my vacation?
What does Ryot do? Essentially it is a digital diary that you can use to quantify various facets of your life: media consumption, fitness tracking (and more eventually).
Ryot is (mostly) open source, so you can self host it on your own hardware. Feedback is appreciated!
- smt88 2y agoIt sounds like you built it to indulge your OCD, not to fix it.
- IgnisDa 2y agoYeah that's another way of putting it. What do you think about it?
- smt88 2y agoIt seems mostly harmless to do this for yourself, but I have no interest in it. I find that cataloguing and quantifying life takes all the joy out of it. If quantifying your life is actually negatively affecting you or people close to you, then this is definitely a step in the wrong direction.
- IgnisDa 2y agoIt's not ever affected my life negatively if that's what you mean. In fact, I find it easier now. Whenever a friend asks me what movies I've watched recently, I can send them a link to my library and then we can have a discussion. I do understand your perspective though, and I agree its not something everyone would enjoy.
- smt88 2y agoInteresting. It sounds more like you're on the autism spectrum or have OCPD. Technically you can't be diagnosed with OCD if your behaviors aren't anxiety-driven and negatively affect your life.
- IgnisDa 2y agoPossibly. This is just self diagnosis and tbh I'm using the words lightly without understanding their full weight.
