Upgrading from Linux Mint 21.3 to 22: failure and success
- thanatos519 2y agoAt least Mint 22 uses the older Ubuntu installer so it doesn't suffer from https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-desktop-provision/+bug/2058511 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-desktop-provision/+bug/205...
- 3np 2y agoNote: Linux Mint 22 was recently released and is based on Ubuntu 24.04 Noble LTS. Mint does not use year-based versioning like Ubuntu does.
- 3np 2y agoJust upgraded. Did not encounter the issue in OP so I guess they fixed it. The one hickup I had was that it appears to consider packages from jammy-security (here: libcap2-bin) foreign and won't proceed without downgrading (which is neither a good idea nor straightforward). Solved by opening up mintupgrade in a text editor and commenting out the first "APTForeignCheck" call, after which the in-place upgrade went smoothly.
