US urges citizens to leave Lebanon on 'any available ticket'
- CommanderData 2y agoLeading up to the eventual expansion of the US's glorified military base, which is internationally recognised as an illegal occupation by the UN. The escalation with Lebanon, then Syria has been planned and is now just being executed.
- blackeyeblitzar 2y agoWhat are you referring to?
- rasz 2y agoAnything to avoid hitting source of the problem. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Falaq-1 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Falaq-1 flew from Lebanon, obviously Lebanon is to blame ... definitely not the party supplying advanced weapons together with target lists.
- blackeyeblitzar 2y agoConsidering Iran issued a warning that Hezbollah (a direct proxy of the Iranian regime) would attack civilian targets in Israel and not military targets, it would be safe to assume that any allies of Israel and their citizens are also targets. Yet somehow whenever the government urges citizens to leave, someone ends up staying behind and gets in trouble.
- wahern 2y agoSome people always stay behind. You see the same patterns when you read about accounts of the Holocaust, Cambodian genocide, Rwandan genocide; unfathomable numbers of people stay put. Sometimes people have a good excuse, e.g. elderly or sickly. But often it's inexplicable. Maybe its personality traits that resist change (moving is more stressful for some than others, especially when unplanned), or resist accepting what others can clearly see as an inevitability. This pattern is so pervasive that any intelligent observer should question whether they would get up and leave under the same circumstances; clearly there are dynamics at play that aren't evident from the outside.
- The_Colonel 2y agoPeople often simply believe that they personally won't be affected. Which is statistically true, but it depends on personal risk tolerance and other factors you mentioned.
- dunekid 2y agoCitation(not interpretation)please? I don't think nobody could surpass Israel in the civilian casualty count. And in the hitting schools count, or in the hitting hospitals front. Not to mention the massive hostage taking from Gaza. And their abuse of those hostages at their military bases. And to top it all calling a United Nations agency a terrorist organisation. None could afford to do that.
- xenospn 2y agoLebanon is tiny. You can just drive to Syria/turkey in a couple of hours. Also, I doubt anything will happen in Tripoli, so staying there is also a good option.
