I’m not against your position generally speaking, but saying this guy is “beyond saving” only strengthens his argument that you’re coming at this from a quasi-religious perspective.
- CuriouslyC 2y agoWhat is beyond saving is his fundamental human decency. It takes a special kind of willful ignorance to see everything going on and how it's escalated over the last 40 years and think to ones self "Everything is fine, my stock portfolio is more important than a stable climate, clean air and safe drinking water."
- pfdietz 2y agoYes, treat people as irremediably evil if they disagree with your position. You are a great exemplar of "human decency" there. /s
- CuriouslyC 2y agoWhen you're happy to let other people suffer for numbers in a computer system when the evidence of humanity's impact on the environment is incontrovertible and yet you refuse to accept evidence due to your greed and want to hand waive the impact because of ideological bias, you don't really deserve courtesy. You're low grade evil, accept it and own it or change your ways.
- carapace 2y agoNot to fan the flames, but I feel it's important to point out that "someone who doesn't hold a quasi-religious reverence for natural ecosystems" is a reasonable scientific working definition of "evil". I'll expand if anyone asks nicely, but the core is that if you believe in evolution and entropy then it's effectively "evil" not to revere life and seek to protect and increase it. (Just to be clear this is a scientific POV, nothing to do with faith or religion.)
- alehlopeh 2y agoIt might be important to you to point out your opinion but I promise you no one else cares.
- carapace 2y agoYou cared enough to write that shitty comment, eh? Once when I was a child I was at the zoo watching the chimpanzees and one of them reached behind itself, crapped right in it's own hand, and flung it at my head. It exploded on the glass right in front of my face. I was startled but then we both shared a laugh. Right now that chimpanzee is better than you.
