Baselessly blaming the CIA or the US is a common narrative among SA leftists. Reality: A population desperate to get rid of a brutal dictatorship despite all challenges voted in the opposition candidate. Narrative: The US is conspiring to coup the democratically elected hero of the people. Also they like to blame others for things that they do or intend to do. I don't know what the CIA is funding/doing in Venezuela but Maduro has Russian and Cuban mercenaries in his payroll.
