Verilog Copilot that pulls from pre-verified libraries [video]
- sathvikr 2y agoGitHub Copilot sucks for Verilog so I thought I'd make a version that takes suggestions directly from pre-verified circuit libraries. You can load libraries into the Copilot using "verilog load [REPO_URL]", or install circuits onto your machine using "verilog install [LIB_NAME]. Comment if you're interested in trying it out!
- graysond 2y agoSounds interesting, could you send me a link to use it?
- sathvikr 2y agoSure! It's "Instachip" on the vscode marketplace. https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=Instachip.instachip https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=Instachi... Let me know if any bugs arise and I'll help you setup :)
- joeqesciii 2y agoI can’t wait to take a closer look!
- sathvikr 2y agoAwesome! Just search for "Instachip" on the vscode extension marketplace. https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=Instachip.instachip https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=Instachi...
- ohong 2y agoThis is awesome! Super exciting to see more software-level composability & reuse making its way into the world of chip design. Long overdue. I'm curious how you guys think about growing the corpus of open source data for training smarter chip design copilots, given the limited amount of publicly available Verilog code vs. what it took to train GH Copilot to work well for the most popular programming languages.
- sathvikr 2y agoHey thank you! I agree, IP reuse is important. We're definitely going to need a big initiative for that as there just aren't enough Verilog people as software people. And a lot of chip design is proprietary. Trying to do something like that at https://github.com/getinstachip/openchips https://github.com/getinstachip/openchips
