I've always suspected the marshmallow test measures desire to please the researcher more than anything else.
I'm supposed to sit here and stare at this marshmallow for some indeterminate amount of time, just to get one more marshmallow? Offer me a whole bag and we'll talk. Otherwise, you're wasting my time. My marshmallow would be gone before they could finish explaining the task.

- fragmede 2y agoMy parents bringing me in, saying researcher is from a big name university and is very smart and do what he says, is going to have a much different effect on me than my step dad coming late to pick me up because my mom dumped me on his lap last minute because she has a new boyfriend and doesn't have time for me now and also my step dad says university is stupid and for geeks and don't believe a word the stupid college girl tells me to, is going to have a biasing effect on the kid!
