Even as someone who holds liberal values I find these kind of studies really suspect, if not completely unethical. "X group is dumber than Y group" studies typically are. It would be incredibly easy to find ways to slant your survey sample to seek out the dumbest of your targets and the smartest of your favorites. Someone with a different set of beliefs could easily come up with a study showing the opposite. And even if conducted with the utmost integrity, it would be very difficult to truly control for confounding factors. And finally, using scientific-sounding methods to convince yourself that your opponent is just stupid is a lazy approach that undermines useful understanding.
