- talldayo 2y agoLast week, incidentally: https://techcrunch.com/2024/07/26/apples-icloud-private-relay-hit-by-outages-for-some-users/ https://techcrunch.com/2024/07/26/apples-icloud-private-rela...
- melling 2y ago“If you are affected by the ongoing iCloud Private Relay outage, you can temporarily switch off the service by going to Settings > Profile > iCloud > Private Relay.” Simple enough workaround. I don’t think the two outages are comparable
- talldayo 2y agoThis time it was. Other times it's not so simple: https://9to5mac.com/2020/11/15/apple-explains-addresses-mac-privacy-concerns/ https://9to5mac.com/2020/11/15/apple-explains-addresses-mac-... > I don’t think the two outages are comparable I don't think comparing a CloudStrike issue with first-party outages is a good idea either, I'm just answering the question in the headline.

- fsflover 2y agoApple has its own serious problems, too: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=25074959 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=25074959 and https://sneak.berlin/20231005/apple-operating-system-surveillance/ https://sneak.berlin/20231005/apple-operating-system-surveil...
- mikece 2y agoWhy not more desktop Linux? What apps REQUIRE Windows or macOS anymore (and why not just delivered via desktop/webtop app virtualization)?
- DANmode 2y agoDepending on your distro of choice: security patch interval. This brings me no joy to write, just reality.
