Predicting Harris' VP nominee based on who's scrubbing their Wikipedia page most
- DerekL 2y agoGavin Newsom won't be picked. If both the presidential and vice-presidential candidates are from the same state, then the electors from that state can't vote for them.
- ggm 2y agoLink goes to a reddit "whats going on here" intermediary not the actual data. I think you need to test this a bit more. -it may be bound into what client, cookies &c
- rfarley04 2y agoGive me a better link so I can devour this delishious idea immediately.

- davidbarker 2y agoThanks. I used the Reddit share link but I guess they use that as a way to try and get people to register. Unfortunately I can't change the original link. Perhaps dang can.

- bjelkeman-again 2y agoA bit click baity. From Reddit > ExternalTangents > “Scrub” seems like poor phrasing, since the graph is just showing edits rather than deletions. This doesn’t imply that the candidate or people associated with them are trying to remove unpleasant stuff.
- ggm 2y agoDefacement rate might indicate who the GOP dislike more. Or not? psyops huge in this space. If I was an older ex-army Astronaut, I am unsure I'd be editing much on my wiki page. A low edit rate might simply be "I have gigantic balls and I don't care what people think here, because I have more important shit to deal with" which frankly could apply to any of them.
- defrost 2y agoI agree with: "Scrub" is definitely a bit of a clickbait phrasing choice. In reality it's a combination of removing information they want to distance themselves from, as well as adding information to flesh out their resume and policy positions. ~ Reddit comment. and I'll posit it's difficult to infer much that's solid from number of edits. I could make the case that (for example) Buttigieg (very few recent edits) is an ideal candidate as very few edits implies there's nothing in his past that anyone feels the need to cover up or reframe. Or equally that Shapiro (many edits) is getting a real polishing here, perhaps they're the first pick?
- eesmith 2y agoIt could be that Buttigieg's page was cleaned up 4 years ago when he ran for president.
- komposit 2y agoThis would surely benefit from some comparative analysis of wikipedia scrubbing prior to previous vp picks to establish wether it is a good indicator
