I wonder how long it'll take before someone creates a mod kit that gives you an HDMI that goes straight to the screen / speakers.
- userbinator 2y agoThose already exist. Look online for "universal scaler LVDS" boards. Available for pretty cheap from the usual far-East suppliers.
- hosteur 2y agoHow does that work? You buy some Samsung smart tv and then you somehow use this board to bypass the “smart” and make it a dumb display?
- userbinator 2y agoYes. They are sold as replacements for TVs whose original boards have failed, but are essentially a dumb TV board, with a tuner and often some media capabilities too. There are even some "smart" ones now with (presumably more hackable) Android built in, if you want a little more than a dumb TV.
