How can 10x the number of children be born per second than the number of marriages?
- ljsprague 2y agoOut of wedlock? Large families?
- madcaptenor 2y agoFrom a bit of cursory googling the birth numbers seem right but the marriage numbers are low. I wonder if they're only counting marriages in countries where marriage data is available.
- sebmellen 2y agoThat would be my guess too. Strange I got downvoted for that question.
- paxys 2y agoWhy is that surprising? You don't have to be married to have a child. A couple isn't restricted to one child. And the number is 5-6x not 10x.
