The definition(s) of pornography given here seem to all be pretty heteronormative… does gay porn harm women and girls? What about lesbian porn made by and for lesbian audiences? The idea (from Laura Mulvey) that the camera is inherently male has never sat well with me, nor has the idea (from Andrea Dworkin) that women who create porn for other women starring other women are violently harming any (much less all) of the women involved. That said, I do understand that the cherry-picked examples given (even with the understanding that this is by far the easiest fruit to reach) do represent actual harm. A lot of porn is bad for everyone involved, I’m just not sure it’s inherently bad.
