- altairprime 2y agoThe website for this font is more interesting than their GitHub. https://commitmono.com/ https://commitmono.com/
- vintagedave 2y agoYes, so much I think that the article link should be changed -- dang?
- altairprime 2y agoIt’s too late now, but next time email him - the footer contact link generally sees a link fixed in a couple hours, as opposed to a comment which may never be seen at all.
- vintagedave 2y agoI loved the quote in section 3: > There are better ways to design than putting a big effort into making something look special. Special is generally less useful than normal, and less rewarding in the long term. Special things demand attention for the wrong reasons, interrupting potentially good atmosphere with their awkward presence. > — Jasper Morrison, Super Normal Manifesto This is exactly what I want in a coding font. I spent close to twenty years using Courier New because it was the default font of many coding editors. When other fonts appeared (Jetbrains Mono, Fire Code, etc) I tried them, but the shapes and kerning were unfamiliar and they made the code too hard to read. I didn't switch to anything until Consolas appeared, because it's a very Courier-New-style font. This one, Commit Mono, looks beautiful. I loved the in-character spacing adjustments for 'kerning' while keeping it monospace. The letters are extremely readable and distinguishable. It's Courier-New-style, so it feels familiar. It is, in the spirit of the above quote, completely normal but extremely well done; it feels like real attention to detail and quality have been put in to making this the most exemplary normal it can be.
- dr_kiszonka 2y agoFor ligature aficionados, it does seem to support a handful of them. It took me a while to find. Navigate to Customize at https://commitmono.com/ https://commitmono.com/.
- smartis2812 2y agoLove it! But one question: What about the license? In which project we can use it?
- saikatsg 2y ago> Is Commit Mono free to use on a website, in software or an app? Yes.
- smartis2812 2y agoThanks! For anyone else reading this in the future, its under `09 Docs / FAQ` on https://commitmono.com/ https://commitmono.com/
