Was really just commenting on how ridiculous it is to send someone a $10 gift card after an incident of this severity. A genuine apology would've been enough, or if they really wanted to make amends, a non-trivial credit towards future costs would be more sincere. $10 is just insulting.
In much smaller orgs, we've had much poorer vendors buy the whole office pizza or some such, and that was just a casual thank-you, not even any sort of major fuck-up. In my current company (a SaaS), we do occasionally fuck up and we issue credits worth way more than that.
I mean, $10 literally isn't even enough to pay for a meal on UberEats in many cities...
- thephyber 2y agoThis just sounds like justifying complaining. CrowdStrike partners literally get paid to deal with cybersecurity incidents like this one. That’s why they have jobs. $5 value is $5 more than $0. > This is not my line of work, so I'm not at all qualified to discuss alternatives. Yet you felt confident to weigh in on the article.

- solardev 2y agoI think I'm going to walk away from this convo now. I hope you have a good rest of your weekend.
- hluska 2y agoDoes being a bully make you feel better about yourself? Because let’s be blunt here, you left the land of reasonable discussion a long time ago and you’re being a bully. We don’t need you or your type in the industry. Please make yourself redundant.
