You are confusing customers for partners.
- solardev 2y agoIf any partner of mine sent me $10 after something like this, I wouldn't confuse them for either a partner or customer for much longer.
- thephyber 2y agoSo you uninstall CrowdStrike Falcon from all of your customers computers and you install what to replace it? The sad truth is that all of the products in that class have had terrible incidents in their past. Also, congrats on moving the goalposts.
- solardev 2y agoThis is not my line of work, so I'm not at all qualified to discuss alternatives. Was really just commenting on how ridiculous it is to send someone a $10 gift card after an incident of this severity. A genuine apology would've been enough, or if they really wanted to make amends, a non-trivial credit towards future costs would be more sincere. $10 is just insulting. In much smaller orgs, we've had much poorer vendors buy the whole office pizza or some such, and that was just a casual thank-you, not even any sort of major fuck-up. In my current company (a SaaS), we do occasionally fuck up and we issue credits worth way more than that. I mean, $10 literally isn't even enough to pay for a meal on UberEats in many cities...
- thephyber 2y agoThis just sounds like justifying complaining. CrowdStrike partners literally get paid to deal with cybersecurity incidents like this one. That’s why they have jobs. $5 value is $5 more than $0. > This is not my line of work, so I'm not at all qualified to discuss alternatives. Yet you felt confident to weigh in on the article.

- solardev 2y agoI think I'm going to walk away from this convo now. I hope you have a good rest of your weekend.
- hluska 2y agoDoes being a bully make you feel better about yourself? Because let’s be blunt here, you left the land of reasonable discussion a long time ago and you’re being a bully. We don’t need you or your type in the industry. Please make yourself redundant.
- hluska 2y agoCongrats on taking a reasonable conversation and turning it ugly. I don’t know what your angle is but the way you’re reacting needs some work.
- hluska 2y agoYou made your point two comments ago.
