After a lifetime of being subjected to the Kremlin's whims, first in Europe, and then in the USA, here are my 2 cents: The mentality that we must adopt should be that of an animal trainer. Every single bad behavior by the Kremlin needs to be met with a noticeable negative response. When things like this, or the bombing of the children's hospital in Kyiv, receive no specific training response... then the animal will not learn that it was bad behavior. It will continue to push the boundaries, and there will be more defecation in our living rooms. I am sorry to put this in such blunt terms, but this is where we are today.
