Why You Shouldn't Write a DAW (2023) [video]
- hedvhgo 2y agoWas just frustratingly designing a new daw for myself and my needs in my head while playing the other day. The options I’ve tried seem to all want to be a “kitchen sink” type, and sometimes do incredibly frustrating things, especially around file management. Currently using Ardor as my daily driver on Ubuntu Studio. If anyone has suggestions on better DAWs, or batteries included OS’ like Ubunutu Studio, that are FOSS I’d love to hear about your workflow.
- TheCleric 2y agoIt’s not open source, but as a hobbyist I’ve found that Reaper has the most features for a relatively small price that will get you support and upgrades for years.
- upon_drumhead 2y agoWhile this was a pretty fascinating video, the description could be reduced to "CTO recommends that competitors shouldn't try to complete with their product" and so I really feel like the claims need to come with a large grain of salt.
