Gun ownership follows a fairly extreme pareto distribution where a few "gun nuts" (I could probably be considered one of them) own a dozen to several dozen guns, while most people will own zero or one. It's the same thing with alcohol - the vast majority of it is consumed by alcoholics. I'd think the average would be higher and the median would be somewhere around one, but I didn't do that well in statistics.
