Evidence mounts that shingles vaccines protect against dementia
- DidYaWipe 2y agoThose of us who've had their hearing damaged by COVID vaccine might be reluctant to roll the dice on another anti-viral vaccine. Hearing loss is associated with increased dementia risk (in addition to overall quality-of-life degradation, of course). So this could be a toss-up.

- sneak 2y agoThat claim is not supported by evidence. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9857204/ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9857204/ > The study data suggested no increased risk for SSNHL following any COVID-19 vaccination.
- Genbox 2y agoA Danish cohort study showed the same results. > Our findings do not suggest an increased risk of sudden sensorineural hearing loss or vestibular neuritis following mRNA-based COVID-19 vaccination. https://portal.findresearcher.sdu.dk/en/publications/sudden-sensorineural-hearing-loss-following-immunization-with-bnt https://portal.findresearcher.sdu.dk/en/publications/sudden-...
- DidYaWipe 2y agoThat's the same study. Which is contradicted by others.
- DidYaWipe 2y agoBullshit. That is one study in one country. Meanwhile, other audiologists indpendently launched studies after noticing an increased incidence of tinnitus & hearing-loss patients after COVID vaccinations. I was seen by one of the earliest to document this and write a paper, and the next one I saw affirmed enthusiastically that this is a "true agent" and information about it has been suppressed. Why the mania for denial? https://www.abc15.com/news/local-news/investigations/can-the-covid-19-vaccine-lead-to-hearing-issues https://www.abc15.com/news/local-news/investigations/can-the... https://www.nationalgeographic.com/magazine/article/covid-vaccine-trigger-tinnitus https://www.nationalgeographic.com/magazine/article/covid-va... https://www.nytimes.com/2024/05/03/health/covid-vaccines-side-effects.html https://www.nytimes.com/2024/05/03/health/covid-vaccines-sid... https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8443418/ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8443418/ https://www.news-medical.net/news/20220523/Pfizer-COVID-19-vaccine-associated-tinnitus-responds-to-transcranial-magnetic-stimulation.aspx#:~:text=One%20rare%20side%20effect%20of,the%20quality%20of%20life https://www.news-medical.net/news/20220523/Pfizer-COVID-19-v... https://www.nbcnews.com/health/health-news/tinnitus-rare-side-effect-covid-vaccines-rcna20613 https://www.nbcnews.com/health/health-news/tinnitus-rare-sid... When a vaccine researcher himself suffered hearing damage, he had to mince words and refrain from speaking out for fear of being "canceled." As a result, thousands, tens of thousands, or more have had their lives degraded for no benefit. And still we see efforts to suppress and deny this information right here. Pathetic.
- Llamamoe 2y agoFWIW, adverse outcomes of COVID vaccines are both rare and mild in comparison to the effects of an actual infection. Yeah they weren't the best of the best vaccines we've had, but they still saved lives, from both death and disability. Long COVID is no joke.
- DidYaWipe 2y agoThe ORIGINAL infection. By the time the second boosters came around, they were of minimal benefit and thus the risk/reward ratio was much much higher than people were warned of. So our hearing is permanently ruined for a fucking USELESS second booster.

- DidYaWipe 2y agoWho are you replying to? Get a new script.
- evilfred 2y agothe shingles vaccine is an old-style vaccine, not mRNA. and there is no evidence of hearing loss related to the Covid vaccine. are you a spam bot?
- DidYaWipe 2y agoAre you replying to the right person? There is plenty of evidence of hearing loss from mRNA COVID vaccine. Are you a pharma shill, or just a coward?
- stubish 2y agoShingles vaccine is recommended for 50+ in US, 65+ in UK, and 70+ in Australia. Is the lower age in the US based on studies, an artifact of public health funding in UK and AUS, or is there little benefit before retirement age? Also curious how long the vaccine lasts. I've heard a number of versions of dunno from health workers and doctors.
- CommanderData 2y agoI don't think it's possible to get the Shingrex vaccine before retirement age unless you are immune compromised. I could be wrong but even if you're willing to pay privately, you won't find healthcare provider wanting to do this off label.
- stubish 2y agoIn Australia you can, but you have to pay for both rather pricey shots after talking to a doctor.
