Update on the Sonos App from [Sonos CEO] Patrick Spence
- tmoertel 2y agoIt seems like there might be some lessons in this whole pre- and post-launch timeline for how (not) to launch a new version of an existing product without damaging your company's reputation and user trust. The speculation is that Sonos launched their new app before it was ready in order to support their entry into the headphone market. But that launch broke many of their existing customers' very expensive speaker systems, and it's taking many months for the company to restore functionality to those affected.

- throwyawayyyy 2y ago` August and September: * Improving Volume responsiveness ... ` On the one hand: I'm a software engineer, I know none of the engineers involved wanted to put out a bad product or are happy about the situation. On the other hand, my Sonos system became almost unusable with the latest update. One would think that the ability to control the _volume_ is part of a speaker's MVP. It's now unbelievably laggy, when it works at all.
