List of Poisonous Fungus Species

- ofalkaed 2y agoAnd just because it is on the list does not mean it is not safe to eat, its not a great list. Coprinopsis atramentaria for example is perfectly fine to eat as long as you don't wash it down with whiskey; it contains coprine which when combined with alcohol produces symptoms much like those of a heart attack but without the heart damage. A fairly tasty mushroom if young but in these parts when you find Coprinopsis atramentaria its cousin the Shaggy Mane is probably close by and a much better meal. There are a few others on the list which I believe are edible when prepared properly but don't have my books at hand to check the details.
