And the "loss leader" devices like Kindle, Alexa etc. helped to get it where it is now, even if the devices themselves generate losses. I think this new strategy is more "now that we are the undisputed online shopping monopolist, do we still need these loss leaders, or can we eliminate them in order to be even more profitable?"
