This isn't you defeating the system it's the system working as intended. They want to weed out people with better options, people with any sort of leverage, people who can afford to walk away. This will be used for low wage low prestige hourly labor, to find people who will accept poor treatment at work because they have to. The same way drug tests and long behavioral questionnaires are used now.
- JohnFen 2y agoI wasn't thinking I was "defeating the system."
- marcuskane2 2y agoMaybe it starts there, but over time works its way up to better jobs as it becomes normalized. Also, our current system is already pretty terrible. Generally some recruiter who reports into HR is the first pass, and they generally don't know which skills are relevant, transferable, or important, nor do they have any real ability to assess how experience translates into ability to do the job.
- b3ing 2y agoVideo intros for dating hasn't taken off. Video phone calls didn't become mainstream, sure we have facetime/zoom, but they are super casual and many people don't like to go on them as they want to make sure their hair, face look good first. Our backdrops and lighting are not always good also.
- b3ing 2y agoIt simply won't work. Unless you are an actor or super outgoing, listening to audio/video recordings of people is going to be boring. Especially video. People need people to play off, not just talking to camera. They can push for these, but it won't take off. Besides you know it will end up just coming down to looks, how organized someones house is and personality with these things. But I guess many job interviews are like that already.
