- masklinn 2y agoMost places do. Texas does not because something something burdensome to free enterprise (fracking is extremely noisy).
- coryrc 2y agoNot in the USA. Two Seattle examples: 1. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/05/29/us/seattle-belltown-hellcat.html https://www.nytimes.com/2024/05/29/us/seattle-belltown-hellc... 2. I had a neighbor who left her dog in the yard for 10 hours a day to bark constantly, every weekday, for six months. She had to pay a ~$250 fine by the end. That was the maximum allowed fine every few months.
- iluvcommunism 2y agoI dealt with this. I had the prosecutor refuse to do anything. I ended up moving with my family. We do not regulate noise well.
- shiroiushi 2y agoTexans don't like government regulations.
- jf 2y agoThe idea that Texans don't like government regulations isn't really backed by evidence. For example, the Cato Institute ranks Texas #17 in terms of overall freedom versus nearby states like Arizona which ranks #4 and Nevada which ranks #5. https://www.freedominthe50states.org/ https://www.freedominthe50states.org/
- shiroiushi 2y ago#17 is still higher in that ranking than the large majority of US states. Still, that's just the opinion of that organization. What's important is the opinions of the Texas voters, and they vote for politicians who generally oppose government regulation. I think it's extremely unlikely that they'll vote for anyone who promises to pass legislation to curb noise pollution.

- daghamm 2y agoTexas is big in economic freedom and not that great in personal freedom unless it's about guns.
- jmugan 2y agoIt seems too loud just about everywhere.
- Yeul 2y agoWe do. This is just deregulated paradise Texas. I don't complain Texas supplies Europe with LNG and their carcinogenic sacrifice is appreciated.
