I've worked at a mix of companies, corporate and startup, and I can't say that I've seen an instance of it. The closest thing I've seen is that people who have X number of years of experience doing the same thing over and over again don't get opportunities that people with the same number of years doing different things do, unless there's a position that needs X exclusively.
