Last year we had a lab that was 25 minutes away. I carpooled with a neighbor. It seemed, OK, especially as we only went in a couple of times a week. We lost that space and switched to a lab about 10 minutes away. It's amazing what a difference that made! We go in more often because the psychological cost is so much lower. We could have rented lab space that is less than 5 minutes' walk for me, but no such luck.
