- bluedino 2y agoI think this might be the first time I've heard of the UMC Green CPU.
- Reason077 2y agoSame here. Interestingly, UMC's chip design unit was later spun off as MediaTek, which is today one of the world's major suppliers of ARM-based smartphone chipsets, WiFi and Ethernet chips, etc.

- adzm 2y agoI think it was hexen that implored you to buy a 486 if the viewport window was set to the smallest size. That's all I could think about when I saw potato mode!
- dkekenflxlf 2y agono, it was raise of traid (or whatever the correct name was)
- mysterydip 2y agoOriginally I thought it was a text printed on the screen, but looking at the art assets in Rise of the Triad, the "buy a 486! :)" actually part of the background graphic. It's just normally hidden by the play area unless you use the smallest size.
- bjw4 2y agoAmazing stuff, although if Doom had worked well on a 386 back in the 90s I'd probably not have ended up in IT. Spent countless hours trying to get games working by messing about with config.sys/autoexec.bat, defragging, UMA, DMA channels, etc.
