How did it pass CI?
- voidfunc 2y agoI suspect some engineer has discovered their CI scripts were just "exit 0"
- 01HNNWZ0MV43FF 2y agoAh, the French mutation testing. Has never been celebrated for its excellence. </orson>
- dehugger 2y agoWhat is French mutation testing? A casual kagi seems to imply its a type of genetic testing, or perhaps just tests that have been done in France?
- zerocrates 2y agoThey're referencing an (in)famous video of a drunk/drugged/tired Orson Welles attempting to do a commercial; his line is "Ahhh, the... French... champagne has always been celebrated for its excellence..." I don't think there's anything more to the inclusion of "French" in their comment beyond it being in the original line. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VFevH5vP32s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VFevH5vP32s and the successful version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qb1KndrrXsY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qb1KndrrXsY
- Too 2y agolol, I’ve lost count of how many CI systems I’ve seen that are essentially no-ops, letting through all errors, because somewhere there was a bash script without set -o errexit.
- emmelaich 2y agoI is added after CI, testing. At least according to something I read previously on HN. See my the comment which speculates why. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=41022110 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=41022110
- xyst 2y agoBold of you to assume there is CI to begin with
- Osiris 2y agoIt wasn't a code update. It was a data file update. It certain seems that they don't include adequate testing for data file updates.
- bni 2y agoIn my experience, testing data and config is very rare in the whole industry. Feeding software corrupted config files or corrupted content from its own database often makes software to crash. Most often this content is "trusted" to be "correct".
