The issue wasn't necessarily the number of machines, but which machines were affected. The fact the major airlines were forced to ground planes, is an indication this was bad. Several financial companies couldn't trade. Hospitals couldn't function. I was personally unable to pump gas. As a linux user, I don't see how you don't see this was a huge deal.
