"A proposal for a statewide basic income program is likely to be on the ballot in Oregon this fall. The measure would give $750 to each state resident annually, funded by a 3 percent tax on corporations with revenue over $25 million."
They're pulling funds from the wrong place. If the C-Suite -to- non-C-Suite employee total compensation ratio is above some determined value X, then the tax should explicitly be pulled first and significantly directly from the C-Suite income, and then perhaps a smaller balance from the corporation.
Corporate revenues are needed to improve the quality of life for people whose lives you're trying to enrich. For instance, R&D (innovation, that drives economic growth), G&A (training, safey, quality health benefits, quality services/ facilities/ tools), charitable donations, etc.. Notice aggregious C-suite compensation is not in this list.
How is this not obvious?
