Was involved in a "security mandated" mandatory rollout of Crowdstrike at my prior company. This software was utter shit, and broke stuff all over the place. And installs itself as basically malware into critical paths everywhere. We objected to ever using it as a SPOF, but was overruled. So yeah, not remotely surprised this happened. Any kind of middleware/dynamic agent is highly suspect in my experience and to be avoided.
