I think the conditions that led to Bell Labs contrast quite well with the "Shareholder Supremacy" episodes of Ed Zitron's "Better Offline" that just played. You can read pre-Welch GE (or 10x better Bell Labs) as the opposite of the aspects of business that Zitron rails against there.
