Anecdotally (starting a new job soon), it's the web space (loosely defined) that seems to have an abysmal market at the moment. Non start up companies doing non-flashy non-web stuff are still looking for talent. It just won't pay what HN posters expect and won't be something you can talk about at Silicon Valley cocktail parties.
