Hopefully if we do get a variant thereof that passes person to person it is also more like current flus in terms of mortality. Keep in mind that the worst case scenario is similar mortality and community spread. This nightmare scenario could see a lot of systems collapse before we could develop a vaccine. This is the appropriate time to work on mitigation.
