I actually think we're saying the same thing. Big tech companies care about profit. That's fine, they're companies. If security - or a pretense thereof - is needed to increase or safeguard profits, only at that point do they start 'caring' about security. With privacy it's even worse. Think Apple cares about privacy? It's just - currently - aligned with their product strategy.
