- bell-cot 2y agoToken Monarchs are usually quite good - partly because it's easy-if-grueling work, partly because they're so easy to fire. But anyone who wishes for a non-token monarch needs to grow up and read some history. Pretty much every country in Europe is a former non-token-monarchy, and they got that way because those non-token monarchs were extremely bad rulers.
- techostritch 2y agoIs there anyone that is pro monarchy/authoritarianism that is also pro-monarchy authoritarianism if someone who doesn’t have the same values as them are in charge? Like is Peter Thiel pro monarchy if AOC is the monarch?
- Apocryphon 2y agoYou don’t even have to go that hypothetical, it’s doubtful that these guys want to live under the reign of a Gulf prince or the Sultan of Brunei. Though maybe they’d be okay with MBS these days.
