As someone who typically is conservative leaning libertarian on most issues, I also appreciate Lina Kahn in the Biden administration. Corporate power is derived from govt power and both should generally be reigned in. I also feel that essential services should not be able to discriminate based on activity that is legal.
What is "essential" is open for debate, but I would say that transportation and communications are pretty high on the list.
Not sure I'm pro crypto(currency) if only because I think stability is a massive issue.
- quantified 2y agoHow is corporate power derived from government power? Corprations usually exercise all the power they can until govt reins them in.
- tracker1 2y agoI'm expressly not opposed to trust busting, or anti-monopoly moves from the govt. I feel it's a fair trade for limitations on liability to company investors. Limitations on liability are a grant to corporations from govt. Certain resource constraints are limited/licensed by the govt (especially communications). Beyond this, I feel that a primary lesson from COVID should be an emphasis on dual/multi sourcing and domestic production at least from a security standpoint. There are some levers that can be used by govt to promote this.
