Germany bans "Compact" magazine
- deleted 2y ago[deleted]
- mynona 2y agoReally shocking to see the trasformation of germany into a authoritarian despot state. Compact is the magazine of the normal right-wing movement and has nothing to do with racism or anti-Semitism. For those who don't know, "DW" is the German propaganda outlet and is financed directly from taxpayers' money. The current government ("Leftwing") has full control over what is published.
- bun_terminator 2y agoYeah I had trouble finding a better source. This one (DW) directly paid by the current government. A better source might be the official press release (which is of course also extremely tainted): https://www.bmi.bund.de/SharedDocs/pressemitteilungen/DE/2024/07/exekutive1.html https://www.bmi.bund.de/SharedDocs/pressemitteilungen/DE/202...

- mynona 2y agoShow me one Article that is openly antisemitstic? Where is the Article that descripes immigratans as sub-humans? How would you descripe a state that bans outlets that are criticising the momentary goverment? A few years ago there was a vote to ban "Indymedia". On this site you could find instructions on how to kill opposition right-wingers safely. The ban was rejected. Now you have a magazine that criticizes the government and does not incite violence and it is banned, directly by the Minister of the Interior. Get well soon.
- Log_out_ 2y agoIts very little, very late, the main problem really is the we can do "anything" without a plan, just feeling good solves the problem attitude of that generation: " We can marry a bear from the zoo, yes we can, yes we do." And that pipi longstocking cando mentality is all there is ans it worked to long to well. Its opposition silence by maoist screaming. Thats the whole plan. Retarded critters wondering why after years of screaming down critics physics still apply to them. Unacustomed to democratic discourse and arguing for all those years they held the majority. Meanwhile the enforced silence festered into the AFD nightmare.
- bun_terminator 2y agoThis honestly comes as a shock. The current government has been eroding rights of its citizens like a clockwork. But this blatant ban on a magazine you were yesterday still able to buy at any store is just brazen. In theory Germany has freedom of press anchored in its constitution (https://www.gesetze-im-internet.de/gg/art_5.html https://www.gesetze-im-internet.de/gg/art_5.html). This ban uses a trick from the "Vereinsgesetz" - a law that governments the corporate form this magazine uses. The law says that they can be banned if they're "against the constitutional order" (https://www.gesetze-im-internet.de/vereinsg/__3.html https://www.gesetze-im-internet.de/vereinsg/__3.html). Something that is easily produced as the institution in charge of that (the Verfassungsschutz) is under total control of the current government. This will certainly end up in a court of law, but with the increasing pressure on government-critical media is scary. There are still a few neutral websites left that aren't blocked (multiple foreign websites are blocked in Germany) or banned but we'll see for how long. There is about a year left before the next German general election and it can only be assumed that this powergrab will continue until then.
