It would probably be better if the world helped to end this war sooner.
- Teever 2y agoThat's very true, but here's the shitty thing -- even when it's over it won't be over. Even if Russia succeeds in fracturing NATO and is successful in their attempts to occupy Ukraine the Ukrainian people will continue to resist them and the Russians will find any occupation an absolute nightmare thanks to Ukrainian drones. And even if the Russians withdraw tomorrow and give back all the land that they have conquered the Ukrainian people will continue to kill Russian warcriminals from afair with drones that they either smuggle in mail to Russia. Either way Russia will never be safe and Russian soldiers will never be safe to step outside to even mow their lawn.
- ProjectArcturis 2y agoNo. If there's a just peace, Ukraine will not continue killing Russians. And, honestly, if Russia ever does manage to conquer all of Ukraine, the resistance at that point will probably be low-level terrorism, similar to what the US experienced in Iraq.
- Teever 2y agoI assure you that even in the case of an overwhelming Ukrainian victory that Ukrainians who were tortured by Russians will dedicate their lives to revenge. What counter is there to a small quadcopter that can recharge itself with solar panels and is released near the Russian border to make it's way to the neck of a Russian war-criminal who is outside mowing his lawn? > the resistance at that point will probably be low-level terrorism, similar to what the US experienced in Iraq. And what was the outcome of that? The permanent loss of social capital and soft power around the world, trillions of dollars of resources completely wasted, a generation riddled with PTSD and TBI, the opportunity cost of all those misallocated resources, and more importantly the permanent fracturing of US society. What will happen to Russia in the event of an all out occupation of Ukraine will make the losses that the US has faced in Iraq seem paltry.

This is an absolutely ridiculous claim to make. Especially as if the scale of these is supposed to match the horror and awfulness of russia's ongoing invasion or hypothetical contested occupation.
- 01HNNWZ0MV43FF 2y agoDid war change? There are other nations that used to fight that are now allies. You do have to wait a generation or two for everyone to forget grudges I assume
- fractallyte 2y agoPeople who downvoted you don't seem to comprehend the magnitude of the atrocities committed by Russians on the Ukrainian population. And not even just now, but over decades, and centuries. There is no way Russia can be allowed to survive in its current form. I believe Ukraine should, and will, do everything to topple Putin's regime, and exact punishment on Russian war criminals. Anyone who may disagree with my post: what would the world have been like if Nazi Germany had conquered Europe? If the genocide of Jews and non-'Aryans' went unanswered? If Hitler's forces had been allowed to consolidate their new territories, and create a vast fascist neo-Germany? If the world allows Russia to succeed, that's the kind of fascist future you'll need to imagine.
