Show HN: I built an app that automates timeboxing
Hey HN,
Timeboxing assigns specific durations and start times to tasks, transforming your to-do list into a concrete action plan. When I discovered this productivity technique, I was unable to find any tools that made timeboxing easy. Having to do repetitive and inefficient procedures like using a dropdown menu every time to select a task duration in existing tools makes it discouraging to develop the habit of timeboxing.
I made Task Kitchen, which automatically cooks up a timeboxing schedule using your to-do list by syncing with all your calendars. The entire task-adding process uses natural language, so a task that lasts 40 minutes can be simply written as "Read atomic habits 40," making the process almost frictionless.
Would love feedback as well
- nbbaier 2y agoWhat's the algorithm that this uses to create the schedule?
- billxby 2y agoIt's a very simple algorithm that iterates through busy times and schedules tasks on non-busy times while taking into account break periods between the tasks.
- nbbaier 2y agoCan you set different break periods for different types of tasks?
- billxby 2y agoThat level of customization is not available. If you want a task to start, say, 30 minutes after another task and your break time is set to 15, you can still do it by using the "Set start time" feature when adding/editing tasks and setting the right time for that task to start at.
- nbbaier 2y agoGot it!
- 8mobile 2y agohi, the UI are quite minimal and I like it. Can I transfer my tasks between Android and iOS? How do you create the schedule? Thanks
- billxby 2y agoYup, your tasks are synced on all platforms, so logging into the same account on Android/IOS will load all your tasks and tasks history.
- longfeiwu9 2y agoI have connected my personal outlook account, when I want to disconnect it and reconnect with my work account, I could not find a way to do it. is it supported?
- billxby 2y agoYou would have to log out and log in again. Now that you mention it, it is a feature I have neglected. Thanks for the feedback!
