- drpossum 2y agoStop spamming your site repeatedly. You've done at least three of these in the last few hours and five in the last two days
- omegacombinator 2y agoSorry, I thought ShowHN was meant to be about sharing my work so that others can play around with it, and so that I could get useful feedback for improvement. Is that not so?
- drpossum 2y agohttps://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html > Please don't use HN primarily for promotion. It's ok to post your own stuff part of the time, but the primary use of the site should be for curiosity. So, explicitly by the guidelines, no because that's all you're doing. You also don't need to post the same thing many times to get your feedback. You had one that did well. Please stop.
- omegacombinator 2y agoSorry for being overly promotional, I will surely refrain from doing so in the future. But still, my posts are not 'the same thing', they are different programs, each of which took time to make.
- gus_massa 2y agoFirst: Nice projects! > they are different programs, each of which took time to make. I think we all agree about that, but they are too similar for the HN standard. The rules are not very clear, but my sugestión is to wait at least a week (or a month, better a month). Other wise people will get angry and flag your post. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=40959114 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=40959114 already got a nice discussion and 60 points (+1 mine now!). You can email dang hn@ycombinator,com to get an official clarification. Another suggestion is to add to the webpage a link to your site, so people that like one can go and find the others.
- omegacombinator 2y agoThank you very much for your suggestions. I think I am beginning to understand the community standards around here now. I would like to apologise again though, I hadn’t realised that my posts were too promotional.
