Both the Democrats and Republicans are (were?) neoliberal economically throughout most of the past few decades. Bill Clinton signed NAFTA into law in 1993, which was probably one of the most impactful neoliberal policies for average Americans. Trump's America-first, high tariff, nationalistic/isolationist rhetoric is very anti-neoliberal.
