Hive Plots – Linear Layout for Network Visualization
- dleeftink 2y agoI remember frequenting this site, amazed by their complex yet simple design each time. I still wonder why hive plots haven't caught on more.
- dr_kiszonka 2y agoI wanted to use them a few times but they weren't well supported by major plotting packages for Python and R, and the plots produced by packages that supported hive plots were nowhere as nice as those on this page.
- tetris11 2y agoThat site is difficult to read. I try to understand what hive plots are, but it's giving me an actual headache trying to read the text It looks like they're river/sankey plots, circularized, with node clusters at each layer. If so, then there really are better ways to represent this than a hive plot: a river plot assuming time-series, or a circos plot assuming not. Barring that, tSNE and UMAP are decent projections for complex data and can easily convert any kNN graph into one.
