One of the more endearing human errors is our tendency to anthropomorphize—put a name and a face on anything, even just a pair of googly eyes on a paperclip, and suddenly it’s a person (“Clippy!!”). These people, instead of thinking “How can we help people not anthropomorphize AI?” instead thought “How can we profit from people anthropomorphizing AI?” I don’t usually wish failure on people’s business ideas, but I’m making an exception in this case.
